Chance for eight food start-ups to take part in pitching event and ‘taste off’ as part of Virgin StartUp Foodpreneur Fest 2014

Sir Richard Branson has launched a search to find the country’s “best” new food businesses, with the opportunity to participate in a live pitch event and ‘taste off’ with the Virgin mogul and a panel of high-profile judges.

Ran by Virgin StartUp as part of the Virgin StartUp Foodpreneur Fest 2014 which takes place in London on September 17, the competition has four categories available for “innovative” food start-ups which includes ‘Most exciting new brand’, ‘Tastiest Start-Up’, ‘Most Loved Kid’s Food’, and ‘Best healthy food business’.

Eight finalists will have the chance to take part and will be judged by food experts Paul Lindley; founder of Ella’s Kitchen, Jasmine and Melissa Hemsley; founders of the Hemsley + Hemsley brand, and Mina Holland; acting editor of Guardian Cook magazine, along with Sir Branson himself.

Four winners will be decided and will be awarded prize packages consisting of mentoring and “money-can’t buy support”.
