Small Business Saturday to live-stream free ‘Inspire Series’ workshops

Attendees/viwers will receive expert advice on how they can save money, become more profitable, and how to take advantage of networking opportunities

Small Business Saturday – the nationwide campaign to promote and inspire the nation’s small business community – will once again host a series of free, informal and participatory workshops for aspiring and existing entrepreneurs and small business owners.

This year, the ‘Inspire Series’ will be streamed on Facebook Live and include a live Twitter Q&A for those who are not able to attend.

Due to be held at Birmingham City University on Wednesday 5 June, the first event, Integrity Accounting’s Small Business Accounting Masterclass, will show how to grow your business, save money and become more profitable, followed by a Q&A session and the chance to access one-to-one advice for attendees.

The second event, How To Network, will take place on Tuesday 25 July at London’s Somerset House. Carolyn Dailey, from business incubator Creative Entrepreneurs, will explain how to understand the “underlying dynamics of connection”, how to get to know leaders and peers in your sector, how to introduce yourself and your story, how to follow up on introductions, and how to maintain your confidence.

Last year’s Small Business Saturday saw £717m spent in support of the day – a 53% increase on the inaugural event in 2013 – while over 130,000 tweets were sent out to an estimated audience of 140 million people, with Small Business Saturday UK trending at number one in the UK.

The Inspire Series is just one of many events planned across the country in the run-up to the event on Saturday 2 December 2017, including a nationwide bus tour.

The Startups Awards 2017 Retail Business of the Year category is now open for entries, giving your independent retail business the chance to be endorsed by a panel of expert judges and receive widespread publicity.

Shohaib Shafiq, from Integrity Accounting Services, commented: “Running a small business can be quite stressful and lonely at times, and the support they receive can be invaluable for the business. Our mission is to help business owners attain their business and personal goals as well as helping them with their requirements to submit accounts and tax returns.

“The workshop will offer invaluable advice about how to run your business effectively, be tax efficient as well as a chance to quiz a chartered management accountant about any issues facing your business.”
