Sports coaching business takes on franchisee for North Wales and Shropshire

Ex-farmer Adrian Dunn buys into Startups 100 winning firm A-Star Sports

Youth sports club franchise A-Star Sports has recruited a new franchisee to run the North Wales and Shropshire territory.

A former dairy farmer, Adrian Dunn will be responsible for managing sports coaching lessons for children aged two to 10.

Launched in November 2011, A-Star Sports was named as a Startups 100 company last year.

Now operating a network of 12 franchise sites across Cheshire, Scotland and North Wales, the franchise is supported by England Lions dodgeball player Alex Harrison, who joined Olympic bronze medallist hockey player Helen Richardson as an ambassador for the company this month.

Dunn, who was working as a youth worker before taking on the new business venture, is already considering expanding his franchise network.

He commented: “My ambition is to grow in the first year, bringing on new venues and high-quality coaches.

“I want to build the area and make sure the business is sustainable and then I’d like to think about taking on another franchise and growing that as well.”
