Our guide to planning, funding and setting up your own business is out now!

“An inspiring and comprehensive blueprint for any start-up”

Julie Meyer, CEO,  Ariadne Capital

With GEW (Global Entrepreneurship Week) and the BStartup Exhibition due to take place this week, and the Startups Awards less than a month away, the nation is currently a-buzz with a celebration of all things entrepreneurial.

This time of year has become synonymous with going it alone, and the good news is there’s never been so much help, advice and support available for those who decide to start their own business.

There’s no denying – it’s an exciting time to be an entrepreneur. So if you’re frustrated by the lack of creative freedom in your current role and certain you could do things better, or perhaps you’ve thought of a killer idea and need some help to turn it into a killer business, as always, is here to help.

With this in mind, we have just released the fourth edition of our annual start-up bible, Start Your Own Business 2012.

Our comprehensive guide to starting your own business takes you through each stage of the start-up process, from choosing the right idea and business model, conducting effective market research and writing a great business plan, to selecting the right name for your business, registering your start-up, finding funding and getting ready to launch – with a whole lot more besides.

Start Your Own Business is fully updated each year, and our latest edition has undergone the biggest overhaul so far.

As always, the book is still packed full of helpful action points and tips, along with advice from some of the UK’s most successful entrepreneurs, including easyJet founder Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou and Betfair’s Andrew Black.

However, this year you will also find brand new sections on buying a franchise, buying an existing business and evaluating your idea (among others), as well as advice on how to launch a business in newer sectors such as the blossoming mobile apps market.

On top of this, we’ve got new case studies of successful entrepreneurs (including Moonpig founder Nick Jenkins, Ariadne Capital founder Julie Meyer, Huddle co-founders Andy McLoughlin and Alastair Mitchell and ShortList Media CEO Mike Soutar). And of course, you’ll find updated facts and figures on everything you need to know to start your own business in 2012.
