Strategy consultant marketplace MBA & Company raises additional £800k
MMC Ventures-led funding takes total invested in company to more than £2m
Online MBA-level consultant marketplace MBA & Company today announced the completion of an £800,000 round of funding, led by tech-focused venture capital firm MMC Ventures.
Founded in 2009 and winner of the Startups Business Plan of the Year 2011, MBA & Company disrupts the traditional management consultancy model by connecting businesses with freelance MBA-level consultants directly through its web-based marketplace.
The site allows business school post-graduates to competitively bid for contracts posted on the platform, with feedback given through an eBay-style rating system.
Since launch MBA & Company has grown in size to become a leader in the management consultancy sector, with 20,000 consultants in its network, more than £20m in projects completed and a reach across 130 countries.
The £800k funding comes from existing investors MMC Ventures and Piton Capital, and will be used to scale the business internationally in addition to launching a new on-demand model which is set to allow businesses to receive ad-hoc project work delivered instantly from MBA & Company’s pool of consultants.
It takes the total invested in the company to more than £2m since it was launched.
Daniel Callaghan, founder and CEO of MBA & Company, commented: “We offer a solution to executives looking for faster, and more cost-effective, ways to have projects delivered.
“Our business model removes the high cost barriers to having great work delivered by the best independent consultants available. This means companies can explore more opportunities to grow faster, benefiting them and the wider economy.”
Jon Coker, partner at MMC Ventures, added: “At MMC we are always looking for businesses that are using technology to disrupt an industry, and have strong potential to scale globally.
“MBA & Company’s platform has both of these qualities, and is well placed to take advantage of the changing way industry leaders around the world are procuring talent for project based work.”
