Sunday Times Tech Track 100 list released
2013 index of fastest-growing tech firms includes Wonga and 7 Digital
The full list of companies on the Sunday Times Tech Track 100 has been released, profiling the 100 fastest-growing tech firms in the UK.
Compiled by Fast Track, the index lists the 100 fastest-growing privately owned tech firms in the UK, measured by sales performance over the last three years.
Amongst the companies to make the list this year were online money lender Wonga, a member of the Startups 100 2010 cohort, independent music retailer 7 Digital – founded by 2006 Young Gun Ben Drury – and flight search engine Skyscanner, shortlisted for Growing Business’ 2009 Innovative Business of the Year award.
Marketing and advertising companies had a significant presence on this year’s list, capitalising on the worldwide surge in online advertising which is set to exceed $100bn globally for the first time this year.
Online marketing firm MVF was ranked as the fastest-growing tech firm in the UK after growing sales at an average of 277.88% per year over the last three years, leading to revenues of £13.9m in 2013.
Founded in 2009, the company helps to find its corporate clients such as Mars and Nestle new customers by using technology to back online advertising campaigns.
The index also revealed that most of the companies were trading internationally – more than two-thirds of those featured were already exporting their goods or services abroad with a further 10 set to do so in the near future.
Broken down regionally, the majority of the companies featured on the list (52) were based in London, a statistic Fast Track said highlighted the strength of the capital’s technology scene compared to other areas of the UK.
Total sales across the index amounted to £2.6bn, representing a significant improvement on the £518m total recorded three years ago.
