Very simply, what does your tech start-up do?
- Baby2Body helps mums live better. We are the first resource that addresses wellbeing, fitness, nutrition and beauty for mums during pregnancy and beyond.
- We provide premium content and learning opportunities through online courses, interviews with experts and interactive guides, called the Baby2Body Academy.
- Our curated e-commerce experience offers premium beauty and wellbeing boxes, curated collections and branded goods for women at various stages of their pregnancy and into motherhood.
Tell us why there’s a need – what do you disrupt?
We are redefining how antenatal and postnatal information is accessed and delivered.
There is no single resource for women that addresses unique fitness, psychological wellbeing, nutrition, and beauty needs during pregnancy – until now!
Although the pregnancy space is a large, competitive market, Baby2Body has found a vital niche in providing comprehensive health and wellbeing information and inspiration for its users. Women are restricted by narrow course options, inconvenient times and locations, and archaic, non-specific class structures that ignore the potential to learn from an online platform. We offer a flexible, fun and engaging programme in the digital space, that allows women to access information exactly when and where they need it.
Are you funded?
Baby2Body was awarded a TSB Proof of Market Grant in April 2014, which allowed us to further evaluate a woman’s greatest concerns and most prominent unmet needs during pregnancy and beyond.
We then secured seed funding from Forward Partners in November 2014, which allowed us to launch our digital platform, and now we’re entering a new fundraising stage to help the business continue to grow, and enhance the lives of new and nearly moms around the world.
What were you doing before starting?
I am a sport psychologist, qualified fitness trainer, entrepreneur and consultant in health technology. I previously served as a senior director at Philips Global Group Innovation for consumer healthcare, co-wrote a pregnancy book for DK publishers and produced a pregnancy, wellbeing and fitness DVD.
What’s the best thing about where you’re based?
Growing the business in a VC environment in the heart of Tech City is constantly inspiring, and there is never a dull moment!
