Very simply, what does your tech start-up do?
Zapp360 is a real time mobile advertising platform. It allows advertisers to get a message or promotion out across display mobile media and reach audiences at scale in real time. Messages are delivered via a scrolling text bar that runs across mobile web and native app browsers. The platform enables the advertiser to take control of their campaigns and each message can link to regular mobile web links, app downloads, mobile vouchers, instant video or calendar reminders.
Tell us why there’s a need – what do you disrupt?
Most current mobile advertising strategies rely on formats that have been adapted from desktop, meaning mobile ads are poorly designed, untargeted and don’t take into account how users engage with small screens. As a result click through rates are low, adverts don’t connect with target audiences and users have trouble engaging with the adverts.
The current strategy many advertisers use is really the digital equivalent of squeezing a billboard onto a business card! It’s time for the advertising industry to catch up with mobile technology, and that’s what Zapp360 is aiming to do with real-time mobile advertising – to make the industry catch up with the times.

We raised a round of funding last year through angel investors.
What were you doing before starting?
Estrin has a career in advertising spanning more than 20 years, having founded the UK’s first digital media agency Profero and having launched Web TV Enterprise.
Fitzgibbons has extensive experience in the media industry, having held a number of senior positions with big players in the media such as Forbes and Reuters. Prior to starting up Zapp360 in 2013, Jerome was – and still is – co-founder of US online display advertising agency Collective Media, where Estrin was heading up the UK division following Collective’s acquisition of Web TV Enterprise in 2011.
What the best thing about where you’re based?
London is one of the best connected cities in the world and there’s nothing quite like the hustle and bustle of the West End to keep you energised and passionate about what it is you do. This part of town is the heart of the media industry and gives us great access to our clients, but also a wealth of talent, which as we grow, will be essential. People who share that passion for the industry are everywhere and it’s hard not to buzz from working in one of the world’s greatest cities.
