Technology VC fund Passion Capital scoops £45m

Fund headed by Eileen Burbidge, Stefan Glaenzer and Robert Dighero is looking to increase investment in tech and digital start-ups across Europe

Passion Capital, a prominent London-based venture capital (VC) firm, has secured £45m to invest in the UK’s technology and digital companies.

Established in 2011 by high-profile tech leaders Eileen Burbidge, Stefan Glaenzer and Robert Dighero, Passion Capital looks to back early-stage businesses that have the potential to scale to become leading tech brands.

To date, the firm has invested in over 40 firms with average seed rounds of around £193,000 and claims that the companies in its portfolio have raised a total of £124m combined.

It plans to use the major investment to provide seed capital to more UK companies but will also be looking to allocate a small percentage of its investments to start-ups in Europe. Key sectors the fund will be focusing on include fintech, edtech, cybersecurity and healthtech.
