The Thoughtful Bread Company secures £55,000 via crowdfunding site
The Startups Awards 2010 winner raises finance for expansion on Crowdcube
Environmentally friendly bread and pastry producer The Thoughtful Bread Company has successfully raised its target sum of £55,000 on crowdfunding platform Crowdcube.
Named Green Business of the Year in the 2010 Startups Awards, The Thoughtful Bread Company uses locally sourced ingredients to produce its bread products, relying on renewable energy and eco-friendly suppliers to minimise the company’s carbon footprint. With investments ranging between £500 and £5,000 the Bath-based company raised its target investment from a group of 34 different investors.
In return for the cash, the bakery has offered up 20% equity, which will be shared between the funders.
Investors also received a range of rewards depending on the size of their donation, ranging from a box of mince pies to a baking session and free bread for life.
Founder Duncan Glendinning is set to use the new investment to fund a move from the company’s station-based stall to a permanent shop in Bath.
