Enter before midnight on Sunday 14 May to be in with a chance of winning equity seed funding, business support and extensive media coverage
UK start-ups have until midnight on Sunday 14 May to enter the May Start-Up Series competition and be in with a chance of winning £150,000 equity seed funding.
Launched in partnership with experienced investors Worth Capital, The Start-Up Series gives one early-stage company every month the chance to win a share of investment from a £1.8m Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS) fund, as well as business support from Worth Capital and extensive media coverage on Startups.co.uk.
RentalStep, the online property rental platform, was named as winner of the October Start-Up Series competition. Founder Mike Georgeson told Startups he will use the £150,000 in funding to invest in website development and marketing and cited that the competition process was “superb”.
To be eligible for The Start-Up Series and win £150,000, you must be a UK resident with a UK-based business and be 18 years-old at time of entry. You must also have been trading for less than 21 months, have less than £200,000 and employ no more than 25 staff.
If your application is successful you will be required to take part in a video interview with Worth Capital and submit a detailed business plan.
Georgeson commented: “Applications closed in mid-October and it was all done and dusted by the end of November […] The whole process has been superb […] Worth’s experience is invaluable to us.”
