Founders: Soumyadip Rakshit, Shanshan Xu, Rob Weekly and Stephanie Alys (above)
Launched: May 2015
Adult toys are set for a digital revolution in 2016, with technological advancements such as 3D printing and the Internet of Things (IoT) fuelling a wave of innovation – sex toys are about to get smart.
Leading the charge is MysteryVibe, aiming to personalise pleasure by taking anonymous big data of the body’s arousal to inform in-depth research and create a truly immersive pleasure experience. So far this has manifested itself in the form of Crescendo, a silicon vibrator with six motors that can be bent to hold any shape the user desires. What’s more, it can be controlled from your mobile phone, with custom ‘vibe waves’ available to download through the MysteryVibe app.
On the back of press coverage and word of mouth alone MysteryVibe has received 1,000 pre-orders for the Crescendo with plans to get the device into major retailers and distributors currently underway. Alongside its partners, design consultancy Seymourpowell – which has seven years experience designing sex toys for Durex – Fueled and Condiment, the company hopes to ship larger volumes of products in the new year and hit £3m in turnover by the close of 2016.
