Top new businesses of 2016: Carsnip
The 'Google for used cars' search engine
Founder: Alastair Campbell
Launched: May 2016
Have you ever had difficulty finding the right car for you? With so many car trader websites on the market, it’s easy to feel like you’ve missed out on the best deal for you or to get frustrated at simply not being able to find the exact car you were looking for. Welcome Carsnip…
Hoping to make it easier for people to find and buy used cars, Carsnip has created a platform that has been dubbed the ‘Google for used cars’.
Launched in May 2016 by Alastair Campbell, the car search platform aims to cut out the middle man and list all of the used cars in the UK, therefore making it simple to find exactly what you are looking for.
The platform – which capitalises on the intelligent search revolution – is free for consumers and makes its revenue from charging dealers to advertise cars on a pay-per-click (PPC) basis instead of paying per listing.
Having already rolled out the platform across the UK, the start-up is looking to scale to over 20 new European countries in an effort to simplify the car trader industry.
Proof of the company’s ensured success is the $1m angel investment it received before launching. A promising beginning for a start-up that looks set to take the wheel in the car trader industry in 2017 and ensure that dealers and consumers can enjoy a smoother ride to a sale…
