A London-based open brewery pop-up UBREW has raised £112,000 from 134 investors on crowdfunding platform Crowdcube, in return for 14.29% equity.

With UK craft beer sales reaching £225m and sector growth of 79% in 12 months, the company has found a novel way to jump on the rising but costly trend – predicted in Startups’ feature on the top business ideas for 2014 – making it accessible to the masses.

Based out of a 2650 sq. foot property on the Bermondsey Beer Mile, UBREW plans to launch imminently and will allow members to join and create their own craft beers – with full access to a range of professional brewery equipment – in a community of like-minded beer lovers.

The start-up has already achieved £12,000 in pre sales prior to its launch and it says the funding will be used to buy better equipment and improve the premises.
