UK event services firm Arena Group buys $40m US competitor

Company behind nine Olympic stadiums set for international expansion after acquisition of Karl’s Event Services

Arena Group, the UK-based firm responsible for building the 2012 Olympic volleyball stadium, has acquired US competitor Karl’s Event Services.

Supported by investment from MML Capital Partners and Sports Investment Partners, the deal is set to support Arena Group as it prepares to expand further internationally.

Arena Group, which already has offices in the UK, United Arab Emirates and the Far East, builds large scale infrastructure for events, such as the London Olympics, where it was responsible for nine venues including the 15,000 capacity beach volleyball stadium.

The acquisition of $40m revenue company Karl’s Event Services, which provides event structures such as staging, lighting and furniture to clients including the NFL Super Bowl and Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week, will give Arena Group a foothold in Wisconsin, New Jersey, Orlando and California.

Commenting on the deal, Greg Lawless, Arena Group CEO commented: “This acquisition enables the Arena Group to broaden its ability to deliver truly international event overlay and temporary infrastructure.

“The benefits of this increasing global network will be enjoyed by clients of all sizes as the sharing of knowledge, experience, technology and working practices continues to improve our offering.”
