US workspace provider WeWork opens first UK co-working office in South Bank

New site to offer “best working environment for Londoners” with facilities, IT-support, and free beer

US flexible office provider WeWork has opened its first international co-working space in London’s South Bank in response to a “shortage of affordable real estate in the capital”.

Spread across four floors at South Bank’s Sea Container House, the site is targeted at entrepreneurs and small businesses looking for affordable office space and support to grow, and will build upon its current network of 15,000 members in its 19 American locations.

The New York-based company intends for the workspace to create “the very best working environment for Londoners” and will also provide IT support, HR solutions, education and training, alongside free coffee and beer.

WeWork CEO and founder, Adam Neumann, discussed the launch: “As a global leader in culture and commerce, London strongly supports its entrepreneurial community and is the perfect fit for WeWork’s first international location.

“London has a strong small business infrastructure and creative class. We want to grow with the independent workforce here and help match the demand for space, but also provide access to community and services.”
