You can now transfer money via Gmail
New ‘send money’ Google feature available to all UK Gmail users with Google Wallet
Gmail users in the UK can now transfer money to anyone through the click of a ‘send money’ button via Google Wallet.
Google’s latest feature, rolling out over the coming weeks, will allow those with a Gmail account to transfer money from a bank account for free or credit card for a small fee to anyone in the UK – even if the recipient doesn’t have a Gmail account.
The email payment service also enables users to request money using the button labelled ‘£’ which will appear at the bottom of a draft email besides the attachment button.
Having successfully launched in the US last year, the UK launch will see Google expand its reach to a potential 500 million Gmail users and will likely drive uptake of its Google Wallet product.
