Young Entrepreneurs: Sam Coley and Steve Pearce, TickX
With backing from Ministry of Sound, the entrepreneurial duo’s ticket search engine looks to become the ‘go to’ platform for discovering events
Name: Sam Coley and Steve Pearce
Age: Both 23
Sam Coley and Steve Pearce are on a mission; to take their “Skyscanner of event ticketing” global.
Both only 23, it’s safe to say that the pair exhibit entrepreneurial ability far beyond their years.
Launched in December 2015, their business TickX, an online ticket price comparison and event listings guide, is already gaining some serious attention.
The site currently compares prices from 20 different outlets for nearly 53,000 events ranging from club nights to comedy, to theatre and sport, and boasts an impressive 18,000 users a month.
With Coley starting businesses at 14 (an online auction site) and then 16 (a software development company), Pearce followed into business slightly later – by this list’s standards – after graduating from Manchester University.
Launching a nightclub listing site and in need of some technical expertise, Pearce contacted family friend Coley to do the development – and the work became the beginning of a great partnership. So much so, that Pearce could only think of one man when looking for a partner for his new idea of TickX years later.
Since receiving early investment from global multimedia entertainment company Ministry of Sound last October, the duo have been working on their new venture full-time and have big plans for the future with the ultimate goal for TickX to become “the global ‘go to’ platform for discovering events and finding tickets.”
On their age, the pair admit it comes with many advantages.
“The biggest benefit is the amount of goodwill you receive from people. From other entrepreneurs to industry professionals to investors we weren’t afraid to ask for advice and consistently received very helpful responses.”
Compared to what others have achieved at their age, it’s not hard to see why the two are rated so highly…
