Zumba, frozen yoghurt and cycle chic named among top business opportunities for 2012
New report from Startups.co.uk outlines key openings for entrepreneurs
Zumba, frozen yoghurt and fashionable cycling apparel are among the top business opportunities for entrepreneurs in 2012, according to a new report.
The study, from Startups.co.uk, outlines the 10 most promising business openings for the coming year, based on interviews with more than 50 investors, entrepreneurs and thought leaders.
In addition to the aforementioned sectors, the report, entitled What business to start in 2012, names independent coffee shops, social betting, retail apps and smartphone repairs as key opportunities for the next 12 months.
Would-be entrepreneurs, and existing businesspeople looking to start a fresh company or diversify their business, should also consider careers advice, independent crafts businesses, and the manifold opportunities surrounding the Olympic Games.
Commenting on the report, Steph Welstead, editor of Startups.co.uk, said: “Our research, which took over two months to compile, clearly demonstrates that Britain is moving away from the big brands and ushering in a new wave of boutique and independent businesses in a range of sectors, from high fashion to dance coaching.
“One entrepreneur we spoke to has designed her own range of bags for fashion conscious cyclists; businesses like these, which capture the zeitgeist with flair and resourcefulness, will have a great chance of success this year.”
