Written and reviewed by: Megan Dunsby Why have we got an Export Business of the Year category? Now more than ever, exporting has become key to business growth.Export businesses are actively helping to reduce the deficit and boost economic growth, so this award is to endorse those start-ups that are getting out there and helping the UK to regain its position as a trading powerhouse. And, with more than 1.5 million small businesses in the UK now exporting worldwide, we feel it’s essential to have an award which gives backing to the start-up businesses that are thinking big and, more importantly, thinking global. What are we looking for in export businesses? This award will look to celebrate those fast-growth start-up businesses which are expanding into new markets and growing overseas.Eligible companies must generate a minimum 10% of revenues from exporting and must be able to evidence this.Your business must also be UK-based, privately owned, and launched no earlier than 1 August 2014 and no later than 31 July 2017.Why you should enter Export Business of the Year:Running for its 15th, the Startups Awards has gained a reputation for identifying businesses which have gone on to become household names and achieved phenomenal success, with past winners including Secret Escapes, Notonthehighstreet.com and Naked Wines.By winning the Startups Awards, your business will receive national and local press exposure, industry recognition from a panel of expert judges, and validation of your business idea and future potential.Winners and finalists will also be provided with a logo to use on marketing literature and letterheads, and a template press release to maximise media coverage.
