Since launching in 2011, membership-based club Central Working has seen rapid growth, with three key London sites now in operation in Whitechapel, Bloomsbury and Shoreditch.

Designed to offer entrepreneurs and start-ups everything they need to grow their business – from space and systems to support – the club was awarded our Service Business of the Year 2013 award in recognition of its flexible offering which allows “small businesses to share and grow together.”

Here, the young company talks to Startups about plans for a funding round and why winning was “a lovely positive endorsement.”

What’s happened in the last year since you entered the Startups Awards?

We have opened our single largest club, over 10 times larger than our first. We have secured partnerships with Microsoft and Barclays bank.

Our membership have enjoyed more growth and we have seen them sharing the love on our Twitter and Facebook as well as in person.

More recently we’ve had Boris, Bloomberg, the PM and the Shadow PM all with us – which has been wonderful.

What’s been the single biggest highlight for the business since winning?

The joy that comes from really helping our members to grow their businesses, and with our new Whitechapel club, been able to help thousands more.

What are you hoping to achieve in the next year or so?

We will be looking to close a funding round and open a number of new clubs.

What did winning at the Startups Awards mean to you?

It was a lovely positive endorsement that we are doing something right.

Would you recommend entering awards like this?
