Having met while working at Gumtree, co-founders Andrew Hunter and Doug Monro first wrote out their business idea on the back of an envelope in a pub in London. Luckily, their concept is a simple one: launched officially in 2011, Adzuna is a search engine for adverts. Backed by an £800,000 investment from Index Ventures, Passion Capital and The Accelerator Group, the company brings together millions of classified ads to enable users to search for their new car, property or job from one website. With revenue growing by 50% per quarter and international expansion planned for 2013, we’re keeping this one in mind for next year.
