Tejwant Karir acquired the franchise licence for the Slough branch of transport and logistics brand Driver Hire in April 2013 and has since increased turnover by a whopping 123% in just two years.

Operating for over 30 years, Driver Hire is the ‘go to’ agency for professional drivers and logistics staff, helping businesses source extra staff to deal with holidays, illness or company expansion.

Drawn to the franchise because of its “simple concept”, high profits and desire to be his own boss, Karir has become one of the chain’s top 20 franchisees, trading with around 70 customers and growing. A fact which is particularly impressive given that Karir was a newcomer to the transport and logistics industry.

Karir has taken a lean approach, employing just four staff, but operates the business 24/7 with someone always on hand to take customer calls and source appropriate drivers.

This emphasis on customer service has paid off with the business reaching the £1m turnover mark in Karir’s second year of trading and the entrepreneur proudly asserts that he has made “what was a good business into an outstanding one”.
