Angus MacKinnon
Age:
30
Company: Nowwashyourhands

After running his own graphic design studio and enjoying success as a director with design company Blueberry, MacKinnon teamed up with co-founders Neil Jeffries and Tim Spear to launch Nowwashyourhands in 2001. Taking the brand of a respected web designers’ portal run as a hobby by Spear, the business developed an impressive portfolio of clients including the BBC, Manchester United and Tesco and was named in New Media Age’s list of ‘respected design agencies 2003’. Year-on-year growth of 100% is expected to continue in 2004, building on last year’s turnover of £750,000.

2016 update:

MacKinnon stepped away from Nowwashyourhands in 2007 but has continued to work in the marketing and advertising industry for a number of agencies. He founded creative agency Playgroup in 2006, where he remained as creative director for two years, before becoming the digital brand director of Nike EMEA, directing the development of its digital presence. In 2011, he founded Thingstomakeanddo, which focused on providing creative strategy, direction and design for interaction, games, social marketing an integrated advertising. The same year he joined Poke London as group creative director, responsible for its creative department and the quality of its output.
