The first comparison engine for the wholesale sector, helping small firms get the best deal
Founder: Suleman Sacranie
Founded: October 2010 (launched September 2011)
Growing up watching his father (and grandfather) lose their weekends to trawling cash and carries, Sacranie felt there must be a better way to get a good deal – and keep the costs of running a retail business down. The 22-year-old was so sure in fact, he left university in order to create it. 99p Wholesaler started as an online cash and carry, but now hosts the first comparison engine for the sector – and has received glowing praise from the press.
His proposition has also proved interesting to investors and, having secured significant seed funding, is now on course to achieve an impressive turnover of £1.26m for 2012. With multiple revenue streams, and new products in the pipeline, there is no sign of slowing down.
