Mobile communications giant T-Mobile has today been unveiled as the lead sponsor of the Startups Awards 2004.

The awards are dedicated to recognising, rewarding and celebrating the best new businesses in the UK.

Entrants will compete across 13 award categories, ranging from ‘Retailer of the Year’ to ‘Micro Business of the Year’, with the winners then competing for the overall accolade of ‘T-Mobile Startups Business of the Year’.

As well as landing such a prestigious title, the overall winner will collect a cheque for £5,000 at the Grand Awards Luncheon to be held at a top London hotel in October. All of the winners will also be announced at the luncheon and will receive prizes donated by T-Mobile.

James Hart, head of business marketing for T-Mobile, said: “T-Mobile is delighted to sponsor the Startups Awards 2004 and its celebration of the best new businesses.

“We know that running a business is hard work, so we offer innovative, tailored business packages to take the worry out of choosing a mobile network. We’ve built our business service around simple things like value for money, keeping you in touch when you’re on the move and providing support you can rely on.

“Getting this right is vital for start-ups as time is so precious to them. We wish all entrants the best of luck in the Startups Awards.”

Marcus Austin, editor-in-chief, said: “It’s great that a company of T-Mobile’s size is recognising the range of needs that start-up businesses in the UK have and we’re delighted for them to be associated with the Startups Awards 2004.”
