Who is Quartix?

quartix-logo

Quartix was founded in 2001 by four industry professionals, and has since grown to become one of the UK’s most popular vehicle tracking providers.

Quartix provides its services and products to more than 17,500 companies around the world, and that number is growing in fact, Quartix boasts more than 400 new fleet customers per month. Since launching, over 600,000 Quartix units have been installed, with clients coming from a range of industries.

With so many clients serviced, Quartix can provide an experience to suit your requirements. Some of its customers operate in the transportation, distribution, and construction industries, as well as other sectors.

Quartix offers several types of services and plans that can be chosen based on your business needs, allowing you to find a plan and sign a contract that works for you.

How does Quartix vehicle tracking work?

Quartix vehicle tracking is an end-to-end solution that offers everything you need to efficiently monitor fleet and vehicle performance.

This means that everything from the technology – i.e. black box telematics tracking – to reporting information can be provided for you by one supplier.

Quartix vehicle tracking is an all-inclusive and efficient option. In the sections below, we’ll outline how Quartix provides some of the main features that contribute to a successful tracking system. Some key components include the tracking device and the reporting system.

Quartix vehicle tracking device

The Quartix vehicle tracking device measures only 90mm x 55mm x 24mm, and weighs just 90g. This small device is installed out-of-sight within your vehicle, by an accredited engineer, on your premises at a time that’s convenient for you.

Quartix’s vehicle tracker is compatible with 12V and 24V vehicle systems, and won’t require any additional modification. The tracker also includes internal wireless and GPS antennas, and is fully compliant with Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) testing, mobile communication requirements, and safety standards.

Quartix tracking: Business products and services

Quartix offers three plans: Infopoint, Infoplus and Infofleet. You can learn more about them in the dedicated section on Quartix vehicle tracking business prices

Quartix’s main products and services are listed below, with more information about each a little further down the page.

Real-time vehicle tracking

Quartix’s real-time vehicle tracking system is one of the most useful services on offer. A real-time tracking dashboard allows you to monitor your fleet at all times, keeping an eye on the figures and data that matter most to you.

Infofleet customers can access fleet management data in one location, as well as benefit from up-to-date information on the number of vehicles on-site, and the number of completed jobs in a day. The plan also offers enhanced maps, while the real-time tracking dashboard can include custom locations.

Infoplus and Infofleet customers can experience a plan refresh time of one minute, while those on the Infopoint plan can expect a two minute refresh time.

Quartix offers extensive alert and notification functions, including:

  • Out-of-hours activity
  • Broken geofences (the defined areas that vehicles are allowed to operate in)
  • Colour-coded fleet maintenance reminders, e.g. inspection, testing, insurance

It’s also possible to create custom alerts. For example, you could use a custom alert to update fleet information, like notifying you when tyre inspections are due once a vehicle reaches a certain mileage.

However, with it taking 1-2 minutes for data to be refreshed, this is a bit on the slow side when compared to other providers.

Vehicle tracking reports

Quartix reports can keep you updated on fleet information, including vehicle movements, fuel usage, speed, and distance travelled.

The platform can also send customers detailed daily or weekly reports. The Quartix vehicle tracking report is an excellent source of information when it comes to tracking your fleet – including monitoring the effectiveness of your vehicles – but also when it comes to processing employee timesheets, pay, and overtime.

Using the fuel management features on offer, you can pull reports on estimated carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from your vehicles.

Driving style reports

In addition to the vehicle tracking reports mentioned above, Quartix offers driving style reports for Infoplus and Infofleet customers.

Quartix allows you to monitor the way in which your drivers actually handle their vehicles. The driving style report lets you assess several features in order to evaluate the way operations are being conducted. This includes fuel and risk monitoring, which can impact your outgoing costs.

You can use this information to help improve driving ability, decrease accident risks, and reduce fuel costs. Reporting is available in a variety of formats, including daily driver briefings and driving scores league tables. This is particularly useful for calculating overall fleet performance during a set period of time.

Graphs are linked to the actual location on the map where any speeding, braking, or acceleration incidents occurred. Each driver is also awarded a score for that day’s driving performance.

Driving history

Each day, vehicle history logs can be provided that offer in-depth insight, including start and end times and locations. This helps with allocating resources and team members, promoting efficiency.

And with the trip reporter feature, you can monitor the behaviour of your drivers. These insightful tracking reports can be useful in case of any fraudulent insurance claims, essentially, providing backup for your drivers.

However, there aren’t any driver messaging features, which could be a drawback for taxi firms and other businesses that transport people.

Quartix scheduling

Quartix offers routing and geofencing as part of its products, with monitoring available to ensure that your drivers are using the best routes possible. The best routes will be impacted by a range of factors, with everything from toll roads to fuel consumption likely to dictate your ideal route.

Live tracking is a feature of the Quartix service, while the weekly route chart can assist with scheduling. The live tracking area can be used for dispatch management and optimising routes.

Quartix mobile vehicle tracking app

The Quartix mobile app allows you to view the real-time location and core features of your fleet, wherever you are. The app is free, and available to all Quartix clients.

The three main mobile features are listed below:

  • Vehicle list – Keep track of all of the vehicles in your fleet
  • Live tracking – Check the location of your vehicles
  • Trip data – Learn more about the day-to-day trips that have been carried out by your drivers and fleet within the past six months

Quartix fleet management

Quartix’s fleet management service helps you to easily manage schedules for all vehicles. This system allows you to automate various processes, including inspections, insurance, and service schedules.

In addition, the fleet management system can also inform you when certain events take place. For example, mileage or fuel milestones can be set so that you are aware when a vehicle has travelled a certain distance or used a certain amount of fuel.

Quartix tracking for business: Verdict

Quartix vehicle tracking is ideal for businesses that are interested in doing their bit to help the planet. This is due to the focus on carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions reporting within the fuel management features.

Also, Quartix has an emphasis on cutting fleet costs and focusing on driver behaviours, along with an easy-to-use interface that can help to inform customers of estimated arrival times. This makes Quartix an ideal match for businesses that operate car fleets, such as those working in the taxi or retail sectors. However, the lack of driver messaging features could be an issue for businesses that transport people.

Quartix offers strong insight into driving history. The trip reporter feature allows you to know a driver’s movements during a shift – this can be helpful if a fraudulent insurance claim should occur, as these reports can act as a witness for your team members.

However, the slower plan refresh times could be a disadvantage for businesses that need information very quickly.

Another highlight is the 12-month contract – most other providers require you to sign up for three years!
