Written and reviewed by: Henry Williams UK start-ups working on “highly innovative” solutions to address the need for clean, affordable and secure energy can now apply for a share of a £13m funding pot.The Energy Catalyst competition is open to any UK organisation developing market-focused energy solutions in any technology, sector or international market, addressing the three key areas of cost, emissions and security of supply.There are three streams to apply to, dependant on the stage a project is at, and entrants should choose the stream that reflect their technical and commercial readiness.The three streams are:Early-stage competition stream – technical feasibility projects lasting up to one year with total costs ranging from £50,000 to £300,000. UK small businesses can enter with or without partnersMid-stage competition stream – industrial research projects lasting up to three years with total costs ranging from £50,000 to £1.5m. These must be collaborative and led by a UK businessLate-stage competition stream – experimental development projects lasting up to three years with total costs ranging from £50,000 to £10m.
