Website: www.moo.com

Moo.com started life in 2004 as an idea to create a ‘quirky’ replacement for business cards, but was quickly abandoned when founder Richard Moross realised the potential of social networking sites. By September 2006, Moo had secured a deal with photosharing website Flickr which meant users could put their own pictures on cards, with deals with Second Life and Bebo following. Richard says he’s surprised by the ‘unprecedented’ global nature of the demand for his product, with 55% of the site’s business coming from the US – “we’re the world’s online stationer,” he says.
