In a world where pets are more than just pets and are treated like one of the family, it’s quite astonishing that pet healthcare hasn’t progressed further. Many preventable pet health conditions go unnoticed until they become serious or are left to get worse because of the fear of huge vet bills.

Enter Scooch, an all-in-one subscription platform that plans to eliminate the hassle from your pet healthcare with a focus on preventative treatments.

The idea came about when founder Baris Ozaydinli’s lockdown puppy experienced health issues at the same time he was selling his wellness coaching business. “I had an ‘aha!’ moment with my wife (while) discussing the size of the pet industry and how wasteful it was,” Baris explains. “I decided to utilise my human wellness tech experience to create a sustainable pet tech business to help our furry friends lead healthier lives.”

What sets Scooch apart is using technology to bridge the gap between pets and pet owners via comprehensive, personalised pet healthcare. Currently the only AI-powered animal healthcare subscription service in the UK, Scooch includes health assessments, 24/7 virtual vet support, and top-tier treatments for common pet issues.

Since pets can’t talk, Scooch helps owners identify potential conditions and monitor and improve health with AI insights, vet tips, and treatment recommendations. The personalised approach ensures that pets receive the care that’s right for them – and it seems to be working.

In the past 12 months, the startup has achieved 10x annual revenue growth and boasts a 4.8 out of 5 Trustpilot rating. A pre-seed round of £1m was also successfully raised.

Scooch has secured its position on the Startups 100 index by capitalising on a burgeoning market – the pet-loving people of the UK – and harnessing tech to make sure man can treat his best friend right.
