Testament to the view that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure, could Clearabee clinch your vote for People’s Champion?

Start-up name: Clearabee
Founder: Daniel Long and Rob Linton
Started in: January 2013
Based in: Birmingham
Business description: On-demand rubbish removal

Shortlisted categories:

Lean Start-Up of the Year, Service Business of the Year

The Clearabee story:

A back bedroom start-up that achieved multi-million revenues in 2015, Clearabee is an on-demand rubbish and recycling collection service that has gone from start-up to scale-up.

Founded by Daniel Long and Rob Linton using just £500, the business has experienced extraordinary growth and it now claims to be the UK’s largest on-demand ‘man and van’ style clearance company, offering its services to thousands of customers from 26 locations nationwide.

The Birmingham-based business allows customers to seek a price estimation, after which a tracked truck is sent out to assess the job and confirm a price – with no commitments beforehand.

Rather than simply chucking all your waste in the landfill, Clearabee also guarantees that at least 95% of what it collects will be either reused or recycled.

In recent months, the company has expanded its offering and recently launched Waste.Express; a waste management service for the construction industry, and Junk.London; a dedicated rubbish removal service specially designed for London that allows customers to specify two-hour arrival slots.

Why Clearabee made our shortlist:

In the last year alone the company has added 60 new employees to its team and expects to generate eight-figure revenues in 2017. Testament to its success, some of the biggest waste management companies in the UK now outsource jobs to Clearabee.
