It’s always risky to make the leap from the corporate to the start-up world but Claire Vero has successfully launched and built a global skincare brand; Aurelia Probiotic Skincare.

Vero realised there was a gap in the market for naturally-formulated probiotic cosmetics while working as marketing director at GlaxoSmithKline and, having spotted a growing trend, decided to leave her six-figure salary job and start Aurelia “virtually single-handed” in January 2013. Fast forward two and half years and Vero’s products are now stocked with retailers such as Liberty, NET-A-Porter (worldwide), Space NK Apothecary and luxury boutiques across Europe and America. Aurelia products even hold the title of being Liberty’s fastest growing skincare brand.

Specialising in natural ingredients with a strict ‘free from’ policy, the brand has also gained huge support from the beauty industry with coverage in nearly every high end publication including Vogue, Tatler, Elle and The Wall Street Journal. With turnover expected to hit £1.2m for year-end 2015, Vero is fast becoming one of the big names in beauty. Having already featured in Management Today’s 35 Women Under 35, we’ll be keeping our eye on this impressive female entrepreneur over the next year.
