Conservative party candidate selected from Young Guns’ Class of 2004
Former Young Gun Tony Caldeira has been chosen to represent the Conservative Party in Liverpool’s mayoral election.
The entrepreneur – who founded his eponymous home textile company Caldeira on a Liverpool market stall in 1991 – will launch a social media campaign under the tag ‘Tony4Liverpool’ tomorrow, ahead of the election on May 3.
Despite now operating his business on a global scale, Caldeira remains a vocal champion of his home city, believing it can become not only a capital of culture, but a capital of enterprise culture.
The announcement of his selection came as the Global Entrepreneurship Congress is hosted in Liverpool this week – where Sir Richard Branson delivered the headline address this morning.
A spokesman for the City of Liverpool Conservatives said: “Tony has the leadership skills, business experience and political knowledge to lead, represent and improve our great city.
“He will become an outstanding mayor for Liverpool if elected.”
