Premium car service Addison Lee has acquired London-based eco-friendly passenger car service Climate Cars for an undisclosed sum.
Founded in 2007 by Young Gun Nicko Williamson, Climate Cars is a carbon neutral car hire service, using the Toyota Prius as its core vehicle, which runs on a combination of petrol and electricity.
The deal strengthens the company’s existing fleet of hybrid vehicles, following the launch of Addison Lee Eco in February, which saw the addition of 350 environmentally friendly cars to target the capital’s eco-conscious customers.
Climate Cars’ 115 vehicles will run alongside Addison Lees 4,800 strong corporate, VIP and international offering, in an attempt to bolster its environmental credentials.
This is the premium car company’s second acquisition within the last month, after the purchase of Cyclone VIP Cars & Couriers, as it strives to give its customers a greater choice of service.
Williamson commented: “We are delighted with the deal with Addison Lee. Their AddLee Eco service is in line with our original goal for Climate Cars, to push for mainstream adoption of hybrid & electric cars in the private hire sector.”
Liam Griffin, CEO of Addison Lee, said: “We are very pleased to announce Addison Lee’s acquisition of Climate Cars. This deal will boost our Add Lee Eco offering, providing more variety for our passengers but with the same best-in-class experience they expect.
“This comes in addition to the upgrades we’ve made to our App, the 4G Wi-Fi we’ve implemented into our vehicles and the new customer loyalty scheme we’ve just launched. All of which are designed to enhance the Addison Lee passenger service even further.”
