Bright Network, the careers network founded by Young Gun James Uffindell, has announced its acquisition of intern and graduate hire-matching platform Intern Avenue.

Founded in 2013, Bright Network uses data and technology to match a network of over 150,000 members with more than 250 employers including Accenture, Clifford Chance, Goldman Sachs, Mars, Rolls-Royce, and Skyscanner.

Operating on a membership model, Bright Network provides talented graduates with free digital careers support, events and advice, and helps businesses access the employees they need to grow their businesses.

Dupsy Abiola launched Intern Avenue in 2012, using technology to automate the process of selecting and sourcing candidates. It claims to be able to reduce time and expenses by up to 90%. Today, the platform helps more than 75,000 students and graduates work with over 550 employers across the UK and Europe.

The deal, which comes months after Bright Network bought internships portal WEXO, will allow it to expand its operations to work with “smaller growth-oriented businesses”.

Uffindell commented: “Abiola is a phenomenal entrepreneur and her extraordinary drive and strong belief in social mobility have turned Intern Avenue into a must-have addition to our platform as we continue to grow Bright Network.

“We’re really excited about Intern Avenue becoming part of the Bright Network family as we continue in our mission to connect young people with the world of work.”

Abiola added: “The last five years have been an incredible journey and joining forces with Bright Network is the perfect path for Intern Avenue.

“With our combined 225,000+ users, we feel Bright Network is well placed to provide the most comprehensive full-service entry level talent offering to UK employers and beyond – this is an exciting step towards ensuring that all students fulfil their career potential in a differentiated and inclusive digital space.”
