Prince Charles’ charity Business in the Community has opened entries for its annual programme targeted at “ambitious” social enterprises based in the London and Yorkshire areas.

The programme, which will give social entrepreneurs access to free advice on areas such as strategy, marketing and branding, wants to support social enterprises to grow, scale and create news jobs in the capital and Northern England. Training, consultancy, and discounted office rates will also be provided.

Successful applicants will need to demonstrate that they have a social or environmental purpose, are financially sustainable, and can create jobs for people in East and West London.

Previous social businesses which have participated in the programme – backed by names such as BP and ASDA – include Rubies in the Rubble, K10, and Bikeworks.

Business in the Community enterprise and culture director, Jane Pritchard, said:

“The impact of our social enterprise programme in London provides a glimpse of the power of collaboration between big business and social enterprises, to create lasting change and vital employment in areas of need.”
