Struggling to come up with a business idea? Head to the countryside…

Do you want to start your own business, but still don’t know what that business actually is? Then a new report from Yell Business suggests you take a trip to the countryside and get inspired.

The report, which surveyed 1,500 small business owners, has revealed that aspiring entrepreneurs who are looking for that lightbulb moment should seek to leave familiar surrounds and head somewhere different.

29% of respondents cited the open air of the countryside as the best place to go when in need of inspiration, with 17% choosing the sandy shores of a beach and 11% seeking out a different cultural experience.

Not surprisingly, 33% of those surveyed admit that their own work environment is dull and leaves them uninspired – with entrepreneurs urged to leave whenever they feasible can.

Yell Business suggests there are a number of ways in which entrepreneurs can spark some creativity in their minds, such as creating a ‘favourites’ album on their phone and adding in impromptu pictures, bookmarking websites to read at a later date, and physically posting magazine cuttings on an inspirational board.

With 93% of people believing they are most creative first thing in the morning, business owners are also encouraged to dedicate the first 10 minutes of each day to sitting down and thinking about the development of their enterprise – as well as compiling notes on specific goals and setting a review date.
