A new franchisee of global tutoring chain Tutor Doctor is said to be on set to achieve turnover “well in excess of” £100,000 for the year, just four months into running his tutoring business.

A former teacher with a master’s degree in physical geography, new recruit Leon Collins has been operating in the East London area with 12 employees and says buying a franchise was “one of the best decisions he’s ever made”; enabling him to combine his knowledge and skills with the desire to be his own boss.

Started in 2000, Tutor Doctors is a home tutoring franchise with over 450 franchisees across 15 continents – including 45 in the UK – and claims to have helped educate thousands of children and students.

Tutor Doctor franchises are available for an average fee of £29,700 which includes initial training and launch support, weekly calls and coaching, and access to the brand’s annual conference.

On becoming a Tutor Doctors franchisee, Collins commented:

“I’m loving being in control of my own destiny. It sounds so clichéd but I can’t tell you how good it feels being my own boss. I’m working really hard, harder than I’ve ever worked…but it’s not for someone else’s benefit this time, it’s for my own.

“My efforts directly influence my rewards, you really do get out what you put in. I have the freedom to make my own schedule and the control to take my business where I want it to go, which for me means growth and profit whilst doing something that I love. Not many people can say that!”
