The Employment Service has over 1000 Jobcentres nationwide that can help you find recruits for a whole range of positions and sectors either locally or UK wide in some cases. It doesn’t cost anything to post a vacancy with them, making it an excellent and cost-efficient way to supercharge your recruitment process.

Each Jobcentre has a standard form that you can just go and fill in to ensure potential candidates have all the information they need. You will need to provide full details of the vacancy including location, wages, hours and any qualifications you expect candidates to have.

It is also important to file any other details such as whether a driving license will be required. This will just help avoid wasting your and your candidate’s time later on.

If you need advice, use the consultant. They are there to help you just as much as people looking for work. If you don’t know exactly what wage to offer, they can tell you about current rates and what you need to be offering to attract the right calibre of candidate.

The details of the job are entered into a computer system that job seekers can either access themselves or through a consultant. If you then agree your expectations with your contact at the Jobcentre, they can let you know when there are enough suitable applicants.

The Employment Service is currently looking to make the process of searching for applicants even simpler by setting up 11 regional customer service centres – Employer Direct. Set to launch early in 2002, Employer Direct will allow you to post vacancies over the phone and have them instantly displayed in your preferred location.

You can use the Jobcentre as a base for interviews and the consultants are always on hand to help. It is also free
Can be a time consuming process as you are relying on people coming into the job centre to see your adverts
