For employers and estate agents, checking that potential homebuyers, renters, and customers are who they say is vital. Equally, so is a verification process they can rely on.

Welsh startup Credas offers just that, with state-of-the-art ID verification that allows businesses of all shapes and sizes to meet compliance obligations.

Credas customers – such as estate agents and conveyancers – can start the verification process with just one email address provided by a homebuyer. The startup’s unique technology then applies OCR and machine reading to match the data to sources like the electoral roll and credit headers, producing a far more comprehensive background check that requires less manual data entry than competitors.

Since its inception, Credas’ year-on-year growth has been constant, and the company was also on track to scale by a further 68% last year.

Currently, 40% of the UK’s housing transactions are processed using Credas technology, with a search being made on the platform every five seconds. It also provides anti-money laundering, Know Your Customer and Right to Work checks.

Credas isn’t not stopping there, either. With plans to release an even more comprehensive platform this year and a free Digital Wallet product for consumers, the company is poised to become an even more integral part of the homebuying process.

Having recently been certified against the UK Government’s new Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework, David’s now targeting the widespread adoption of Digital Identities across the UK, as well as further expansion for Credas into Canada, Australia, New Zealand, USA, and the EU.

If you’re going to be renting, buying or moving jobs in the near future, you’ll probably find Credas is there alongside you, making the verification process that little bit smoother for everyone involved.
