Naturally Cool KidsOwner: Fiona Wood Year Started: 2010 Website: www.naturallycoolkids.com

As a qualified reflexologist and beautician, Fiona Wood has always had a good idea of how natural products are made, and after the birth of her second son she noticed a distinct lack of natural skincare products for children. Spotting a gap in the market (and wanting a career that would fit around her family), she entered the Barclays Take One Small Step competition and won £50,000 to kick-start her natural winter and summer skincare range for children – Naturally Cool Kids. The products use bright, innovative, child-friendly packaging, designed to engage children and offer fuss-free application for parents. Made wholly in the UK and free from dairy, soya and nuts, the range is perfect for children with sensitive skin. Now stocked in John Lewis and exporting to Sweden, Malta, South Africa and Australia, among other countries, Naturally Cool Kids has reinvented an old favourite, creating the perfect product for parents looking for greener and more natural products for their children.

Judges’ comments:

The judges felt  like this company summed up the essence of the Mumpreneur. The product was designed by a mum for her child and it was designed from a childs perspective. This is a particularly tough space to conquer, retail shelf space, but due to the quality of the product it has succeeded. The fact that the product is manufactured in the UK is a real plus and as are the great growth projections based upon actual orders received.
