The Pip & Nut story:

Keen runner Pip Murray began making nut butters when looking for nutritious and delicious things to eat before heading out, and it wasn’t long before she decided that it was time for the humble nut to be “put back on the nutritional map”.

Pip & Nut sells three different nutty flavours, peanut butter, almond butter and coconut almond butter – available in jars or on-the-go squeeze packs, with a new flavour coming soon. Unlike other brands, the high protein spreads are devoid of refined sugars and palm oil, as well as e-numbers, preservatives and additives.

Just nine months after launch, Pip & Nut has found itself listed in more than 400 stores in the UK and Ireland, including high end stores such as Selfridges, Ocado and Fortnum &Mason. Before the year is out, the brand will also launch in Sainsbury’s and Marks & Spencer and is forecasting six-figure sales. A recent win at Branson’s Foodpreneur Festival to pitch its products to US chain Target could also prove lucrative

Why Pip & Nut made our 60:

This young brand and founder have achieved significant growth in a very short space of time, and having built a loyal fan base on social media and secured over £200,000 in funding, 2016 looks to be the year the nut has its time in the spotlight.
