Wrike has been designed for a simple user experience, and scored highly in our testing for usability. As shown above, its interface is intuitive and clean, with visuals that focus on relaying information at a glance.

Projects are organised in your Wrike Workspace, a cloud-based file system. You can structure the different departments of your business using team-specific Spaces, which can be sorted into projects for different clients or product lines. Folders are then used to categorise the different outstanding tasks, which are organised alphabetically.

Team collaboration is another one of Wrike’s strong suits, with its payment plans featuring very generous resources – the free version of the platform, for example, permits an unlimited number of users.

At every tier, you’re allowed a free trial as well as an unlimited number of paid-for guests. Guests can view any team Space, giving them access to all subfolders, tasks and projects – in fact, you can’t limit what is shown in a team Space unless you purchase the app’s Enterprise plan.

For SMEs with a tight budget, or those who are new to project management and want to get to grips with the software before scaling up, Wrike Free is a practical app that definitely isn’t short on capabilities. We think Wike Professional is the best option for small businesses in terms of both price and features. It delivers more than double the amount of storage offered by Wrike Free, and is designed for effective collaboration. Plus, at £7.10, it’s certainly affordable for SMEs.

Task dependencies help to ensure that coworkers are working efficiently, while dashboards present users with a comprehensive overview of work, to prevent you having to trawl through folders to check on the statuses of specific tasks.

Wrike also has industry-specific payment plans for businesses based in the professional services or marketing sectors, as these tend to require a more tailored list of features.

As part of the Professional Services payment plan, users gain additional financial functions such as budget management. There’s also billing and invoicing – two key elements for accounting departments or SMEs.

For marketing and creative teams, an extension to Adobe Creative Cloud is included to improve document management and editing capabilities. Tools include visual markups and overlay asset comparison – handy if you need a focus on visuals and design collaboration.

Wrike FAQs

Do you have to pay for collaborators?

Wrike has three types of user licenses: regular users, external users (people from outside your workspace) and collaborators. Regular users can access every feature within your plan, but external users are limited to certain access rights. Both are charged per user.

Collaborators are guest licenses. You’ll get 20 collaborator invites or 15% of your license count (whichever is greater) included with your subscription at no additional charge. However, a guest license only affords some basic functions.

Can you pay in UK currency? 

Wrike’s website lists all of its prices in USD, but your bank should be able to convert this to the correct cost in GBP once purchased.

Can I get a free trial with Wrike?

Wrike’s free trial lasts for two weeks and gives you access to features supplied by every payment plan, including the Wrike Business plan – our recommendation for SMEs.

Once your trial ends you will be locked out of your account until you purchase an annual subscription (billed monthly) or downgrade to the platform’s free version.
