A suit on Savile Row will set you back at least £2,000. King & Allen, formed in 2003, make suits that follow the same tailoring guidelines and similar cloth, but cost about a quarter of that price. The firm hires function rooms across the UK and turns them into a tailor’s shop for the day. Meanwhile, its two ‘low key’ tailoring centres in Surrey and Cheshire carry no stock, thereby keeping overheads low. In a highly competitive market, King & Allen is carving itself a profitable niche.
