Taking care of recycling, and providing a helping hand to vulnerable adults

Recycling specialist The Elixir Group is much more ambitious than its area of expertise – waste management – might suggest. As a social enterprise, it is committed to providing employment and training for vulnerable adults and socially excluded groups, such as ex-prisoners and recovering addicts.
Co-founder Ben Donnelly was recovering from addictions himself in 2008 when he realised the lack of support for people in similar situations coming out of rehab or prisons. The Elixir Group was born and has successfully employed over 800 vulnerable adults. Its clients are a range of private and public sector companies, and the business has reached a decidedly healthy turnover.
