The contemporary consumer has become used to an ‘on-demand’ lifestyle, with the option to bring services directly to their door – but Daniel Long and co-founder Rob Linton noticed there was still a significant opportunity to improve rubbish collection.

In late 2012, they founded Startups 100 company Clearabee, an on-demand waste collection business. After customers make an enquiry, a two person truck team is dispatched – generally within 24 hours – to assess and clear the waste. The company will tackle any domestic or commercial job, from a full house clearance to a single large item, typically charging £49 for attendance, and then £25 per cubic yard after that. Removal is either same or next-day, and is disposed or recycled in a fully compliant manner.

To date, Clearabee has collected waste from more than 30,000 customers of all sizes, and recently competed its initial nationwide rollout with the opening of a new depot near Edinburgh, allowing it to serve all four corners of mainland Britain.

Last year, the rubbish firm turned over more than £1.5m and sales are expected to exceed an impressive £6m over the next 12 months, as Clearabee continues to grow its now 60 strong workforce alongside expanding its corporate customer base.
