London has its fair share of ‘healthy’ food businesses, but few have the ambition, scope and star-powered endorsement of Lily Simpson’s The Detox Kitchen.

Simpson started The Detox Kitchen in 2012 after discovering that there was a gap in the market for homemade, delicious, healthy food. Today, she and her team deliver hundreds of healthy and nutrient-rich breakfasts, lunches and dinners a day, direct to customers’ doors. Using only fresh seasonal ingredients, free from wheat, dairy and refined sugar, the dishes are inspired by Simpson’s travels. The Detox Kitchen also operates two delis in Soho and Fitzrovia, which offer breakfast dishes, salads, smoothies and even a fully-equipped fitness studio. It also currently has a pop-up concession in Selfridges, as well as stocking its grab-and-go range in boutique fitness studios across London.

Unsurprisingly, Simpson’s health-focused start-up has attracted a host of big names from the glitterati including Gwyneth Paltrow, Suki Waterhouse, Elle Macpherson, Agyness Deyn and Sophie Dahl, not to mention 110,000 Instagram followers. Having secured £2m in funding from Encore Capital earlier this year, The Detox Kitchen plans to open another 10 sites by 2019 and is predicting it will generate £5m in next financial year.
