BaseKit is going places. It’s not just us that think so – the DIY web-build business closed an investment round worth around $11m earlier this year, and won the annual competition at technology start-up incubator Seedcamp. Furthermore it already has around 2,000 paying subscribers and is targeting a 30-40% profit margin, on a $100m turnover, within four years. Best co-founded BaseKit with brother Richard and friend Richard Healy – all experienced web developers – in 2009, and the business is his second start-up. This year has already seen the company roll out in Latin America and further international openings are imminent. “Ultimately, we think BaseKit will eventually replace traditional hosting for small business websites,” Best told Growing Business “and we’re working towards that goal”.
