World's third largest pizza chain Papa John's has teamed with motorway service operator Welcome Break to open 11 new stores across the UK motorway network.

With 4,000 Papa John's stores in place across 33 countries, the pizza franchise plans to open 100 new outlets over the next few years in the UK alone.

It is hoped that the new partnership with Welcome Break, which attracts an annual footfall of around 80 million and includes Starbucks, KFC and Waitrose outlets, will help existing franchisees by boosting awareness of the Papa John's brand.

The Papa John's franchises, purchased by Welcome break, are opening in Abington Scotland, Gretna Green, Keele, Hopwood Park, Gordano, Leicester Forest East, South Mimms, Cobham, Oxford and Fleet, where they will offer a limited menu to cater to the motorway service's customers.

UK franchise manager for Papa John's, David Galvin, commented: “We are keen to grow the number of Papa John's stores throughout the UK and our deal with Welcome Break is part of this strategy.

“For our existing franchisees, the increased brand awareness Papa John's will gain will also further support their businesses throughout the country.”
