The business world slows down dramatically in August as the summer holidays begin, providing a natural rest point to prepare for your next career step. And, if you want to turn that step into a leap, a job at one of the UK’s fastest-growing startups could be your best bet.

Startup culture tends to nurture fast-paced, exciting work environments where every person is equally dialled in as part of a flat hierarchy. As a result, they are the perfect employer for motivated, driven people who love to learn.

August is also when many school leavers and graduates will nervously look forward to receiving their exam results. For these young people, a job at a young startup can serve to build experience and help them become a jack of multiple business trades.

To help out eager job hunters, we’ve listed 140 positions that are open at UK startup companies this August. Each firm has previously been named a top 100 startup, and will be enjoying their time in the sun not just this summer, but for years to come.

Revolut

  • Where is it based? London (Canary Wharf)
  • Can you work there remotely? Yes

Revolut has had a storming year so far. As our 2019 Startups 100 winner, the fintech unicorn has quickly built up a huge customer base in the UK and, fresh from (finally) securing its banking licence, Revolut is looking to take on the world as its next business objective.

Alongside working for a fast-growth tech startup, Revolut has plenty of other enticing employee benefits. It recently announced plans for a $500m employee share sale, which would equate to a payout of roughly $50,000 per staff member.

Revolut has grown its team from 250 to 10,000 employees since 2019, including over 2,000 this year. That hiring spree is set to continue in August with 66 vacancies currently being advertised on the Revolut career portal across 14 different departments, including:

  • Backend Software Engineer
  • Data Analyst
  • Marketing Manager (Graduate)
  • Account Executive (SMB)
  • Paralegal
  • Legal Counsel
  • Tax Manager

Monzo

New York, USA - 15 May 2020: Monzo Bank mobile app logo on phone screen, close-up icon, Illustrative Editorial.

  • Where is it based? London (Liverpool Street) and Cardiff
  • Can you work there remotely? Yes

Monzo is now firmly past the point of a startup, having turned over a pre-tax profit of £15.4m last year. However, it has retained its plucky focus on growth and innovation over turnover, and continues to seek out new money and hires to fund product development.

The Startups-100 alumni describes itself as an open, collaborative, and inclusive workplace that wants to employ talented, and creative, people. It promises plenty of perks to make it worth your while, including a one month sabbatical each year and free hot lunches.

With offices in both Cardiff and London, Monzo is currently advertising 36 vacancies. 13 are hybrid roles based in London, and 23 are remote. Here’s a quick overview of what’s on offer:

  • Complaints Adviser
  • Data Science Manager
  • Senior Data Scientist
  • Android Engineer
  • Hiring Coordinator
  • Diversity and Inclusion Lead
  • Senior Product Manager

Yonder

  • Where is it based? Old Street, London
  • Can you work there remotely? All roles are hybrid (3 days a week in-office)

Rounding off our fintech trio, it’s Yonder, an emerging rewards credit card provider that is scaling faster than you can buy a £5 flat white in London. It was originally set up for people in the capital, and while it plans to expand soon, only the London office is recruiting.

Yonder boasts an impressive 4.1 out of 5 stars on Glassdoor. Employees write about it as an excellent career opportunity for those who are just starting out. They highlight friendly team members as a big bonus, and say there are many projects for staff to build experience from.

For August, the startup is hiring six hybrid positions across marketing, engineering, and finance. All are open to applications now on the Yonder website. These are:

  • Business Operations Manager
  • Head of Engineering, Frontend
  • Manager, Dining Partnerships
  • Product Manager
  • Senior Credit Risk Manager
  • Senior Frontend Engineer

Lottie

Lottie_Co-Founders_Option 1

  • Where is it based? London Bridge, London
  • Can you work there remotely? All roles are hybrid (2 days a week in-office)

Lottie, a care home marketplace aiming to fix the UK’s broken social care system, has twice been a top-ten finisher in our Startups 100 Index. It has climbed through the ranks to position #2 in just two years, and looks set to continue that trajectory in the next year.

As a purpose-led startup, Lottie is a fantastic opportunity for job hunters wanting to move into a more meaningful career. Based in a brand spanking new (and pastel pink) London Bridge office, you’ll work right in the heart of one of the capital’s most exciting areas.

This August, Lottie is hiring two engineering roles as well as two customer and sales roles:

  • Senior Data Engineer
  • Senior Product Manager
  • Customer Success Executive
  • Partner Marketing Manager

Pasta Evangelists

  • Where is it based? Acton, west London
  • Can you work there remotely? All roles are permanently onsite

It’s been a big month for Pasta Evangelists, the nonna of pasta for UK audiences. The food brand’s meal kits are now flying off the shelves at major retailers, and it opened its first ever pasta emporium in Richmond, South West London last week.

The brand plans to open over 20 new premises over the next five years. To do that, it needs a crack team of pasta professionals. Notably, it is recruiting for a People Advisor this month.

In total, the company is advertising four open roles at its Head Office across August. But if you don’t see anything you’d fit into yet, Pasta enthusiasts are also encouraged to register their interest with the brand for endless career pastabilities.

  • Maintenance Manager
  • Manufacturing Engineer
  • NPD Executive Chef
  • People Advisor

The Modern Milkman

Modern Milkman

  • Where is it based? Spinningfields, Manchester and Hammersmith, London
  • Can you work there remotely? All roles are hybrid (2 days a week in-office)

The Modern Milkman is a tech-powered reimagining of the traditional milkman. Brits can plug their delivery requirements into the app at 6pm, and enjoy fresh, locally-sourced produce the next morning. It’s a simple idea, but it’s generated big success for the startup.

Earlier this year, The Modern Milkman was named the fastest-growing startup in the UK by The Financial Times, and it also came fourth in the 2023 Startups 100 Index. The brand now plans to expand its milk-and-cart to more UK cities by making some strategic hires this year.

In August, the milkie is hoping to make three additions to its Mancunian and London offices:

  • Growth Executive (London-based)
  • Customer Success Ambassador (Manchester-based)
  • Analytics Engineer (Manchester-based)

Packfleet

Packfleet

  • Where is it based? Bermondsey, south-east London
  • Can you work there remotely? All roles are hybrid (3 days a week in-office)

Do you care strongly about sustainability? Do you think that drivers should be paid a basic living wage? Packfleet is an all-electric courier that has built its brand upon these ethoses, and it is revving up to make a big impact on the UK delivery sector over the next decade.

Naturally, a company that cares about paying its drivers fairly also offers excellent employee benefits for the entire workforce. All staff receive 35 days’ holiday entitlement (7 days over the statutory minimum), including a paid ‘recharge’ day off on the last Friday of each month.

Packfleet is hiring four roles in August, including two entry-level sales and marketing executives. Here are all the positions listed on the Packfleet career portal:

  • Account Executive
  • Delivery Driver
  • People Operations Manager
  • Sales Executive

AUDIOMOB

  • Where is it based? Central London
  • Can you work there remotely? TBC

Audiomob is an exciting software company that’s hoping to solve the issue of annoying, interrupting gaming ads, by providing sophisticated audio ads in mobile games.

Audiomob is real Silicon-Valley level stuff. The company has already garnered an impressive roster of world-leading clients spanning Uber Eats, McDonalds, and Warner Music Group.

In August, Audiomob is looking for two new UK-based roles (as well as one in New York and two in the UAE, thanks to its global presence) for a “hungry overachiever” to fill. These are:

  • Senior Business Development Manager (12-month contract)
  • Demand Partnerships Manager

Wild

fred and charlie Wild founders

  • Where is it based? Brixton, south London
  • Can you work there remotely? All roles are hybrid (3 days a week in-office)

Roll up, roll up! Working for a sustainable deodorant brand might not sound disruptive, but Wild has made innovative use of its digital marketing channels to amplify its brand voice,  becoming one of our top 100 most exciting UK startups for two years running.

Wild’s inventive and eco-friendly designs have won it plenty of celebrity fans, including Stacey Solomon. In August, the team is looking to cement its global presence, and has ten open positions on its career portal, as well as a speculative application for sweat swots:

  • Partnerships and Affiliates Manager
  • Brand Manager
  • Senior Designer
  • Data Analyst
  • User Generated Content Creator
  • Photography Lead
  • NPD Manager
  • Financial Operations Manager
  • Influencer Marketing Executive

KatKin

KatKin co-founders

  • Where is it based? Haverhill, Suffolk and Clerkenwell, London
  • Can you work there remotely? All roles are hybrid (2 days a week in-office)

Dog lovers, look away. Cat food subscription service, KatKin first made our radar in 2021, when it came 76th on the Startups 100 Index. Since then, it has won millions in funding and launched a host of innovative kitty health products, coming fourth in last year’s index.

At the start of this year, the brand opened its first meal manufacturing plant in Haverhill, Suffolk. It is currently in stealth mode, but the Haverhill site will help to set it up for an exciting marketing push spearheaded by its new Chief Marketing Office.

To support the launch, KatKin is hiring six roles to complement its self-described small, entrepreneurial, creative team. These include:

  • Brand Ambassador, Part-Time (London)
  • Growth Lead (London)
  • Senior Full Stack Engineer (London)
  • Hygiene Manager (Haverhill)
  • Multi-Skilled Engineer (Haverhill)
  • Production Operative (Haverhill)
  • Technical Manager (Haverhill)
